At Kenray, we understand that the right bag style is key to both product performance and shelf appeal. Whether you need a simple pillow pack for snack foods or a premium quad pouch for speciality goods, our form-fill-seal packaging formers and tooling are engineered to deliver consistent quality, maximum efficiency and a pack that reflects the value of your product. We work with leading global brands across food, drink and household sectors to develop pouch packaging solutions tailored to their products, production lines, and markets.
The block bottom pouch features a flat rectangular base, allowing the pack to stand upright on the shelf. This makes it ideal for retail display, particularly for products such as coffee, tea, flour and other dense or heavier goods. Its stable structure combines practicality with a premium appearance.
Also known as a stand-up pouch, the doy pack has a base that allows it to sit upright and a single seal at the opening. Resealable closures are commonly incorporated, helping to maintain freshness when products are not consumed all at once. Doy packs are often chosen for liquids, granules and powders.
Similar in appearance to a pillow pack, a gusset bag includes additional film folded into the sides of the pack. This extra capacity allows more product to be packed into the available space, making it suitable for items that require greater volume without changing the outer pack dimensions.
The pillow bag is one of the most widely used formats, particularly for lighter products such as crisps and snacks. It is characterised by a simple A-to-B seal, which can be configured as left-over-right or right-over-left. Pillow bags are efficient to produce and remain a versatile option for high-volume snack food packaging.
This pack format is created by sealing three sides of the film, with the artwork inverted so the pack is formed from the side. Pouch packs are a popular choice for spices, powders and liquids where a flat, efficient pack design is required.
The quad pouch is a premium packaging format featuring four vertical seals with distinct ‘fins’ on each corner. This creates a box-like shape while maintaining the flexibility of a pouch. With artwork space available on all four panels, quad pouches provide strong shelf appeal. They are widely used for high-end products such as speciality tea, coffee and cereals, often replacing traditional “bag in box” methods.
Sachet pouches are small, single-use packs often used for portion-controlled products such as sugar, coffee and condiments. They are lightweight, cost-effective, and convenient for both manufacturers and consumers.
There are three primary types of vertical seals used in VFFS packaging: Lap Seal, Fin Seal, and True Fin (Pinch) Seal. Each has specific advantages and is suited for different applications.
The right bag type is about more than appearance – it’s about efficiency, performance and customer experience. With decades of expertise in form-fill-seal tooling, Kenray can help you choose the best format for your products.
